Objective: The present study aimed to determine the relationships between perceived social support, attachment relationships, and bullying behaviors with the mediation of resilience among male elementary school students.
Methods: Using a structural model, the research method was based on the nature of correlation. The statistical population included fifth and sixth-grade male students in Tehran in 2021 and the statistical sample based on Klein's criterion was 306 people who were selected by random cluster method. The research tools were Olweus's Bullying Questionnaire, Ungar & Liebenberg's Child and Youth Resilience Measure, Halpern and Kapenberg's Kinship Center Attachment Questionnaire, and Tahmasian's Children and Adolescent Social Support Questionnaire. SPSS-25 software was used for descriptive and inferential analysis and hypothesis testing, and SMART PLS3.2 software was used for path analysis.
Results: The findings showed that the direct effect of attachment relationships on bullying behaviors is significant (P < 0.01). The direct effect of resilience on bullying behaviors was significant (P < 0.01). The direct effects of social support and attachment relationships on resilience are significant (P<0.01). Also, social support and attachment relationships indirectly affect bullying behaviors through the mediation of resilience (P < 0.01). The data's goodness of fit indices indicates the model's appropriate fit.
Conclusion: From these findings, it can be concluded that attachment relationships have a negative role and social support and resilience have a positive role in bullying behaviors. This role becomes more prominent with the mediation of resilience. These findings can be used to predict and improve bullying behaviors.
